The joy of painting transcends borders The point of the project “The Happiness of Painting over the Borders”- The Workshop of Painting of Kids in Laos
Dawing,
It conveys feelings across borders.
It’s sure to make someone smile.
I would like to convey the joy of drawing to children who have not yet known it.
The world can be changed with the smiles of children.
We believe so.
For two days from March 26th to 27th, 2015, GOFA
R BANK held a workshop in Vientiane, Laos to convey the joy of drawing to Lao children as a national project celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Laos. The event was held at the Lao Disabled People’s Association (LDPA), a support facility for people with disabilities.
LDPA is working to support the education and employment of people with disabilities in Laos, enabling them to become economically independent. As part of our support, we held a total of three workshops to help children learn about the joy of drawing.
Approximately 15 children gathered for each workshop. The program started with the greeting of “Sabadi (hello)” with hands together, and the children were asked to draw pictures on paper patterns that will become boxes when assembled, and for children with visual impairments, they were given a work session using “Ohajiki”. I was able to enjoy it very much.
We also invited local teachers to participate and taught them how to teach children how to freely hold a paintbrush and express their hearts so that they could continue doing artwork.
At the end, the children made a picture in a box and gave it to them as a gift, along with message cards and souvenirs that the Japanese children had made with their thoughts.
I believe that paintings have the power to easily transcend words and borders, and connect people’s hearts. The smiles on the children’s faces as they went home carrying their precious boxes made me realize once again the power of the gift.
This workshop received great cooperation from Lao Central Airlines, LeFu Co.Ltd, iJOBs Company Limited., and the Embassy of Japan in Laos.
GOFAR BANK will continue to carry out activities to convey the joy of drawing to children around the world.
